Threading Our Stories: Mending Through Community Quilting

Threading Our Stories: Mending Through Community Quilting

Saturday, January 21, 2023, 1:00PM – 3:00PM

Join us to create a new collaborative quilt at VPAM — inspired by the community quilts in the Phung Huynh: Sobrevivir exhibition — that expresses how reproductive freedoms influence the daily fabric of our lives. In this sewing circle, participants will create their own quilt squares for a new community quilt, which will temporarily be on view at VPAM's in-gallery Community Quilt Lab.

  • Free and open to the public.
  • Art materials will be provided. No prior sewing experience is necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials to personalize their quilt square.
  • Adults and youth (ages 12+) with adult supervision are welcome to participate.

ELAC welcomes persons with disabilities to participate in all of its programs and events. For accommodations requests, please email Steven Wong at wongsy@elac.edu or call (323) 265 - 8841. Face masks are highly recommended for this event. Thank you for keeping our community safe!
