The Smithsonian Undergraduate Internship Program

The Smithsonian Undergraduate Internship Program is a full-time internship opportunity organized by the Vincent Price Art Museum in collaboration with East Los Angeles College (ELAC), the Smithsonian Office of Fellowships and Internships (OFI), and the Smithsonian Latino Center (SLC). This unique internship is now offered in conjunction with the new Museum Studies Certificate Program at East Los Angeles College.

The five-week winter internship program provides East Los Angeles College students with the opportunity to engage in museum studies in their hometown of Los Angeles and with the nation's premier museum complex in Washington D.C.

Program components:

  • Directed study course taken during Winter Intersession term (3-units)
  • One-week intensive workshop with the Vincent Price Art Museum (Los Angeles, CA)
  • Four-week full-time internship with the Smithsonian Institution (Washington D.C.)
  • Program features:

  • Behind-the-scenes tours in Los Angeles and Washington D.C.
  • Exposure to a range of museum careers and academic programs
  • Workshops and networking events with museum professionals
